Santa’s Wild Ride
2015
What a year. 2015 has been one wild ride. It got off to a bang with the wedding planning, and of course, the wedding itself which was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Then off to Maui for the honeymoon, followed by starting a new job. Daryl and I have had some amazing highs and been through some lows. Like I said, it’s been a wild ride.
As I sifted through hundreds and hundreds of holiday songs to pick the mix for this year’s album (literally, iTunes says I have over 2,800 holiday songs in my collection not to mention all the ones I didn’t download), I noticed that many of the candidate songs were referencing or bringing to mind destinations- L.A., New York, Hawaii, Mexico, London, Tokyo, Siberia, and Dubai. I began thinking about Santa’s around-the-world-in-a-night journey. What a wild ride – just like my year has been. Hence the title was born.
A couple of tidbits: I love mashups, and I found a brilliant one I used on the album this year. I’m not sure everyone will like it, but I did so I included it although I debated a long time about it. You’ll know which one I’m referring to when you hear it. Another song on the album (track 9) is by a South Korean girl group who I’m not even sure speak English. I thought that might give Kelley C. a chuckle given her penchant for Korean pop.
I hope that as you listen to this album, it brings a little holiday cheer. I also encourage you check out my previous years’ albums at the links below or at the top of the page.
