Guess what! This is my 20th holiday album. People were asking me whether or not I was going to make an album this year, especially since I skipped last year. My reply was “maybe.” In the interest of maintaining my mental health, I decided that I would not put any pressure on myself to complete an album this year. If it happened, it happened. That’s why it’s so late. I prioritized other things and did the album in my (very little) spare time. I’m not sure how many of you still take the time to listen to my albums, but l have fun creating and listening to them myself, so I do it for me as much as you. I think Daryl enjoys them too, although I probably tested his patience this year when I started doing “Marco Polo” style callouts to him from the choruses of tracks 4 & 12.
The album this year contains almost no traditional Christmas songs (unless you consider track 5 traditional), but I am okay with that. I thought I would spare you all yet another version of Jingle Bells this year. I hope you find these songs new additions to your traditional Christmases.
